Dr. Sargent and two other faculty members were awarded on behalf of their hard work and dedication to students. President Paul Conn presented the Excellence Awards during May commencement to a crowd of graduates, parents, and faculty. The Excellence Awards are the highest honors bestowed upon members of Lee faculty. The Excellence in Advising Award is presented to a faculty member who has shown great commitment to students outside the classroom. The recipient is selected through a committee comprised of students, faculty, and administration. “In a very brief period of three years, Dr. Jeff Sargent has earned a reputation among Lee students as a professor who is conspicuous in his willingness to focus time and effort on the concerns of students,” said Dr. Conn. Before joining the Lee faculty in 2005, Dr. Sargent worked as a mental health therapist and school counselor in Alabama. His research has focused primarily on self-regulation and academic motivation. Dr. Sargent is also a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Counseling Association, and the American School Counselors Association. |
