Celebrate 20 years of free music as the Chattanooga Downtown Partnership kicks off the 2008 Nightfall Concert Series Friday, on the Blue Cross Stage in Miller Plaza with the Mike Farris Band.

Review for the Mike Farris Band:
Those who remember Mike Farris as former front man for the Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies will do a double take when they hear the deeply spiritual, soulful and potent groove that marks the moving comeback of this musical powerhouse. This show will raise the roof with a 10-piece band that includes horns and female-backing vocals that perfectly position tunes between heaven and earth.

With the release of his latest album "Salvation in Lights," Mike Farris continues to build his fan-base. Following his performance during the 8th Annual Americana Music Association Festival last year, he was said to have "hushed the crowd with the soulfully rousing version of Green Green Grass of Home." Mike Farris is also scheduled to perform at Bonnaroo this summer.

Opening act Dismembered Tennesseans will take the stage at 7 p.m., followed by the Mike Farris Band at 8 p.m.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, this free concert series continues to bring an eclectic mix of rock, blues, jazz, reggae, zydeco, funk, bluegrass and folk music to downtown Chattanooga. This 17-week series is held on the Blue Cross Stage in Miller Plaza on Friday evenings from Memorial Day weekend through Sept. 26. Beer, wine, food and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available on site. No outside food or beverages are allowed.

Nightfall will also feature weekly giveaways provided by participating merchants of Buy it Downtown, downtown Chattanooga's gift card.

Corporate sponsors for this year's series are Fletcher Bright Company, Unitrin, Northwest Georgia Bank, Bud Light, Southern Powersports, Kelly Auto Group, Food Lion, Comcast, Fox 61 and WUTC.

For more information on this free community concert series, call 265-0771 or visit the Nightfall web site at www.DowntownChattanooga.org.
