Past in Review Cemetery Event This Saturday
posted May 20, 2008

The 4th Annual Past in Review will be held at the Chattanooga National Cemetery this Saturday, May 24th from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

It will be located on the perimeter of the cemetery near one of the pavilions. Signs will be posted. Public is welcome. It's primary purpose is to to help educate the public, especially children about the sacrifices of American veterans and the military history of this country. It is held the same day the Boy Scouts place flags on the graves so that a great many children can actually see the history that they are commemorating that day.

This event is the only one of its kind in the nation held at a National
Cemetery. It is a military history timeline, encompassing American
Military history from Revolutionary War to present day. At the current time around 40 reenactors and military vehicle owners have committed to the event.

Vehicles include a 1951 M37 Army truck, an M43 ambulance, various jeeps, an Iraqi staff car captured by the 196th Field Artillery Brigade in Desert Storm and the Southeast Veterans Museum's Battle Bus. The Battle Bus is a rolling museum with a Vietnam Exhibit on board.

If they are able to attend, the ARMY National Guard and the Air National
Guard will have vehicles on display as well. The all-volunteer Tennessee
State Guard will be on hand with a historical display as well.

The Southeast Veterans Museum hosts this as its primary educational event
of the year. The museum is located inside the Chattanooga DUCKS.
Information on the museum may be obtained by calling 423 756-3825.
