10-Year-Old Girl Charged In Bomb Threat At Orchard Knob Elementary
posted May 20, 2008

Chattanooga fire investigators arrested a 10-year-old girl on Monday for making a bomb threat at Orchard Knob Elementary School on May 12.

Both Orchard Knob Elementary and Orchard Knob Middle took the threat seriously and evacuated both buildings, officials said.

The Chattanooga Police Department's Bomb Squad searched both buildings, but no device was found.

A subsequent investigation by Lt. Henry McElvain led to the questioning of the 10-year-old student at Orchard Knob Elementary.

Lt. McElvain charged the girl late this morning with making a false report (e.g. a bomb threat) and reckless endangerment.

After informing the youth and her parents of the charges, the girl was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center for booking.

Lt. Anthony Moore assisted with the investigation.
