Instead, coach Grace Pickett’s Lady Tigers rallied 10 runs in the last three innings for a 10-5 victory Wednesday morning over North Greene in the losers bracket of the Class A state softball tournament at the Starplex.
Whhitwell (25-9) will play again on Thursday morning at 11 eastern against either Forrest or Friendship.
Taylor McDaniel was 3-for-4 with three runs scored for Whitwell while Whitney Long and Candace Wioods had two hits and an RBI each.
Kaitlin Easterly was 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored and Katie Hubbard was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Cayce Chambers and Aja Medina also had RBI for the Lady Tigers.
Despite a slow start, Whitwell’s Amber Webb picked up the victory. She gave up nine hits while striking out eight.
