Grundy Murder Suspect Caught After SWAT Standoff
posted June 12, 2008

A man charged with killing his brother-in-law in Grundy County was captured after a SWAT standoff in Chattanooga on Thursday morning.

The standoff lasted for about two hours at the Town and Country Inn located at 2000 E 23rd St.

Shawn Landolt was finally taken into custody along with his father.

Shawn Landolt is charged in the death of 30-year-old Jeremy Meeks, whose body was found in his burned trailer on Shadrick Hill Road in Tracy City late Wednesday night. He was in the middle of a divorce from his wife, who is the sister of Landolt.

The motel was evacuated during the incident.

Officials said Landolt recently came to Grundy County from Broward County, Fla.

Neighbors of the victim said he was shot, then the trailer was set on fire.

His body was found in a rear room.
