Several emergency responder agencies responded to Bakewell Mountain on a 23-year-old man lost in the woods. At 10:30 a.m., a 911 call was made by the lost hiker reporting he was lost in the woods and could not find his way back.
Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue and Special Tastics and Rescue Services responded to the Retro-Hughes Road on top of Bakewell Mountain.
According to his friends that were with him the night before, they had taken four-wheelers in the woods and came back to their original location. One person decided to stay the night on the mountain. Jeremy Rogers, 23, a Soddy-Daisy resident, decided to stay and venture out on Tuesday, but got lost coming back.
Mr. Rogers did have a cell phone with him and was able to call 911, but could not receive calls. The 911 dispatch center was able to retrieve a GPS position of the lost hiker. Mr. Rogers was found at 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday by rescue personnel and was treated on the scene by Hamilton County EMS. No injuries were reported.
Hamilton County Sheriff's Department and Tennessee State Forestry was on the scene to assist with rescue efforts.
