A neighbor called 911 just before 9 a.m. reporting a house fire at 1835 Bay Hill Road.
The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene. The unit reported heavy fire coming from the back side of the house and heavy smoke coming from the eaves on the front.
Chief Marcus Fritts of the Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department requested a mutual aid response for additional manpower. The Red Bank Fire Department, and the Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
According to the homeowner, Patricia Lombardo, she had emptied her ashtray into the kitchen garbage before she left for work. The cause of the fire is undetermined, but will be under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.
Chief Fritts reported the smoke detectors did activate when fire started in the house. Chief Fritts also confirmed the fire started in the kitchen.
Damages are estimated at $30,000. Ms. Lambardo was insured and will be staying with friends. No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries.
The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by the Red Bank Fire Department, the Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department, Hamilton County EMS, and the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department.
