The 595-acre farm in Bradley County owned by Cleveland businessman Toby McKenzie is being sold at auction along with his 51 remaining lots at the Hampton Creek subdivision in Ooltewah.

Both auctions are set for July 10.

The farm sale is at 11 a.m. at Maple Hill Farm (formerly known as the Carl Hoskins Farm) at Highway 60, Dalton Pike, south of Cleveland.

Officials of the John Dixon auction firm said Mr. McKenzie "has made his decision to sell this farm at public auction and move on to other endeavors."

The Hampton Creek auction is at 6 p.m.

Henry Glascock, an official of John Dixon Auction, said during a meeting in Ooltewah with about 75 people present on Tuesday night that "Toby McKenzie is motivated - the banks are putting pressure on him."

Mr. McKenzie and his former wife, Brenda, made a number of bequests, including large amounts to UTC. The former Roundhouse was named McKenzie Arena in their honor after a large gift to help pay off its debt.

The farm is being dividied into a variety of large and small tracts from 5± to 65± acres. There are open and wooded tracts with the timber cover mostly in hardwoods with pines interspersed throughout.

Auction officials said, "The property on the east side of Dalton Pike has beautiful, rolling pastures, as well as ridge areas that offer scenic views of the Appalachians to the east. The western section has similar topography and view potential, as well as several ponds and lakes that have been platted for individual tracts. These are excellent 'farmette tracts'.”
