TWF Says Sportsmen Made a Difference
Bill to abolish TWRA losing steam

Last week the TWF Camo & Casting Coalition issued an action alert on HB2856, the bill filed by Rep. Sherry Jones that would abolish TWRA, create a new division of wildlife in the Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC), and would place all TWRA moneys in the state General Fund – costing wildlife over $17 million in federal fish and wildlife dollars.

According to Mike Butler, Executive Director of the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, hundreds of you responded and your efforts paid off. Last week HB2856 had 14 co-sponsors, today it has 5. Remaining on the bill are Representatives Sherry Jones (D-Nashville), Ben West (D-Nashville), Mary Pruitt (D-Nashville), Harry Brooks (R-Knoxville), Janis Sontany (D-Nashville), and Kent Coleman (D-Murfreesboro).

TWF is still seeking withdrawal of HB2856.
