Signal Mountain Lions Install Officers, Give Out Money And Awards

Signal Mountain Lions installed officers, from left, front row, Jim Smpkins, Don Swisher, Jim Wade, Bill Stuart, who installed the officers, John Kington and Steve Hankins; second row, Mel Tryon, Larry Bascom, Chris Cole, Brian Eades, Curtiss Hewlett, Dan Saieed, Bill Leonard, Jerry Pala and Travis Billingsley.
New officers were installed and scholarships and other awards made during the June 24 meeting of the Signal Lions Club.

Frank Adkins was named the Melvin Jones Fellow, Kyle Johnson received a four-year college scholarship and Bill Thornton, president of WRES, accepted a $500 check from the club.

Lions District 12-0 Governor Bill Stuart installed the officers in a program based on the Lions Club motto, We Serve. "We are who and why we are because we serve. You can never do a kindness too soon because you never know when it is too late."

Officers installed and their offices are:
Jim Wade, president; John Kington, immediate past president; Jim Simpkins, first vice president; Brian Eades, second vice president; Jerry Pala, secretary; Chris Cole, treasurer; Travis Billingsley, membership chairman; Don Swisher, lion tamer; Curtiss Hewlett, tail twister; Bill Leonard, John Staten and Steve Hankins, two-year directors; Mel Tryon, Dan Saieed and Larry Bascom, one-year directors.
