Nationwide Bus Tour Stop In Chattanooga Urges Cancer Awareness
posted June 30, 2008

Chattanooga residents are invited to be part of making cancer history when the Fight Back Express rolls into town on Tuesday.

The Fight Back Express, an activity of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, carries the mobile message that Americans have the power to fight cancer in this country with their voices.

The bus is on a six-month tour highlighting the crucial role elected officials play in supporting laws and policies that help people fight cancer.

The ACS CAN Fight Back Express kicked off in Ohio in early May and will travel across the 48 continental United States through Election Day, November 4.

The Fight Back Express is a mobile action center. At each bus stop visitors can send text messages and write messages on the sides of the Fight Back Express, making it a petition on wheels.

Hamburger plates will be available for a $5 donation, and entertainment will be provided by No Big Deal. The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Miller Plaza.

ACS CAN supports evidence-based policy and legislative solutions for a number of cancer-related issues including prevention and early detection, increased funding for cancer research and tobacco control.

ACS CAN, the nonprofit, nonpartisan advocacy partner of the American Cancer Society, supports evidence-based policy and legislative solutions designed to eliminate cancer as a major health problem.

ACS CAN works to encourage elected officials and candidates to make cancer a top national priority. ACS CAN gives ordinary people extraordinary power to fight cancer with the training and tools they need to make their voices heard.
