On Channel 12 News Tuesday, Debra Matthews made this statement concerning Gregg Juster, her opponent for School Board District 4, "We don't need to bring anybody in from outside who has no knowledge of our community and no knowledge of our educational process."
She cannot be serious. Isn't this the same Debra Matthews who voted for the "outsider" form North Carolina, Jesse Register, not once or twice but three times? What about Debra's vote to hire the "outsider" from Texas, Jim Scales? Not only did she vote to hire an "outsider" she voted to extend his contract two years early.
By the way, someone needs to tell Debra that Gregg Juster has been in Hamilton County longer than Dr. Scales. Also, no one had to pay Gregg with a contract to entice him to stay here. Gregg Juster is here because this is where he has chosen to live. I think anyone who knows Gregg will testify to the fact he has made many contributions to his community, not only thru property and sales taxes, but construction as well.
Let me see if I can clear up the definition of "outsider". Someone who lives here for years and pays property taxes and invest personal time and money in his community and 'then' decides to run for office is not an "outsider".
Someone who has to be lured here because of money and then plans to leave when the money runs out is an "outsider".
