Ryan Howard hit a three-run homer, Philadelphia had 13 hits, and the Phillies held a healthy Braves lineup to seven hits Wednesday night at Turner Field.
With the win, the Phillies stayed 1 1/2 games ahead of Florida in the National League East Division standings. They have now won seven of eight against the Braves this season.
Howard made two errors in the ninth inning as the Braves loaded the bases off Brad Lidge, but the Phillies closer got Mark Teixeira to strike out to end the game. Teixeira fouled off several pitches before going down.
J.C. Romero allowed a solo homer to Chipper Jones and a walk to Teixeira in the eighth, but the next three Braves hitters went down in order.
Howard's three-run homer in the third inning off Braves starter Jorge Campillo (3-3) gave the Phillies a 4-0 lead.
They added another in the fifth, on a Pat Burrell solo homer.
Phillies starter Adam Eaton (3-6) left in the sixth with no outs and the bases loaded. Chad Durbin allowed just one Brave to score, though, when he induced a bases-loaded groundout to slumping Jeff Francoeur.
Eaton wriggled out of a bases-loaded jam in the third inning, and allowed two runs on five hits in five-plus innings.
Durbin, whom some thought could be moved into the starting rotation after Brett Myers was optioned to Triple-A, didn't allow a hit in two innings of relief.
The ninth inning was much like the ninth Tuesday night. After cutting the lead to just two runs, Atlanta gave the Phillies some insurance runs - Tuesday it was three runs and tonight, two runs.

Atlanta will try to salvage a game in the series when Jair Jurrjens (8-3) and Cole Hamels (8-5) face each other in another 7:10 p.m. contest.
After the Phillies leave Thursday, the Houston Astros come to Turner Field for three games.
