Jim Cobb Is The Most Effective Legislator
posted July 10, 2008

I spent 32 years as County Clerk or County Executive of Rhea County. In that capacity, I had the opportunity to work with and observe this success or failure of each of our representatives from 1970 thru 2002.

I will go on record stating, in my opinion, Jim Cobb has been the most effective and got more accomplished in his first two years than any other representative we have had in the 31st District.

I recently read in the Times Free Press about how many bills legislators got passed this session. This would be funny if it were not so serious. It seems that representatives feel that they must get any insignificant bill passed to justify their salary. In reality, Tennessee would be better served if the Legislature would meet, adjourn, and come back home to listen to the needs of their constituents. We have thousands of laws, rules, and regulations on the books already without adding more.

The mark of a good legislator is one who listens to the needs of their people and uses their position to obtain the help needed.

Jim Cobb does and has gotten more accomplished for his people than any other representative I can remember. He has been able to get the state to permit the counties and cities to clean out Roaring Creek in Graysville, Richland Creek in Dayton, and Rock Creek in Sale Creek thus relieving the danger of flooding which was happening regularly.

He has gotten a traffic light approved which was requested by the town of Soddy Daisy.

Jim has worked hard for a bridge across the Tennessee River from Daisy to Harrison which may or may not be approved. However, it is being studied and there is a good possibility it will be approved. Wouldn't this be great for North Hamilton County?

Jim Cobb cares for his people and has worked hard for us. That is why he deserves to be re-elected for another term to complete the projects he has started.

I recommend and ask your vote for Jim Cobb.

Jim Wilkey
Rhea County Executive, Retired
Dayton
