Michigan Youth Groups Volunteer With Home Repairs posted July 14, 2008 Despite record gas prices, two Michigan youth groups are driving 1,400 miles (round trip) to do volunteer home repairs in Chattanooga’s inner city, for the seventh year in a row. The group of 53 students, led by two general contractors and one professional painter, will install new floors, build a wheelchair ramp, paint, and do other light repairs for residents of East Chattanooga. The volunteers are working in collaboration with Hope for the Inner City and will be staying at its Roanoke Avenue facility.
