Sheriff Patrick Cannon won over former Chief Deputy Tim McDonald in the Dade County sheriff's race in Georgia elections on Tuesday. Cannon defeated McDonald 1,417 to 878.
In Dade County, there will be a run-off election on Aug. 5 for county executive and District 3 commissioner.
To replace Ben Brandon for Dade county executive, Allan Bradford had 718, Ted Maxwell Rumley 715, Anthony Emanuel 582 and John Deffenbaugh 229.
County Finance Officer Don Townsend defeated Carnell Galloway on the Democratic side - 295 to 228.
Robert Goff was the top votegetter for District 3 commission with 314 votes. He was ahead of David Young (222), Christopher Thornton (72) and Chris Howard (68).
In District 4, Peter Cervelli won over Mendy Bryson 419 to 211.
For Dade County School Board chairman, David Swader edged Nathan Wooten 1,211 to 1,077.
In Varnell, liquor by the drink was approved 116 to 84 and Sunday alcohol sales 105 to 96.
In Catoosa County, there will be a run-off election for county executive chairman between Bill Clark and Keith Green.
Clark edged Greene in Tuesday voting in the chairman contest. Clark had 1,34 to 1,261 for Greene. Former Fort Oglethorpe Mayor Judd Burkhart had 290 and Jeff Wolford had 278.
Ken Marks defeated Barbara Wilson for County Commission District 1 by a margin of 421 to 357.
In District 3, Jim Cutler beat Bud Shadwick 518 to 356.
In Whitfield County, Sherri Blevins won the probate judge contest. She had 2,583 votes to 1,544 Linda Kay White for and 889 for Mike Raber.
For sheriff, Claude Nix defeated Paul Tipton Jr. 2,856 to 1,802.
Harold Brooker won County Commission District 2 over Karen Horne by 2,773 to 2,208.
For District 1, Thomas Barton edged Charles Oliver 1,759 to 1,644.
