The Tropical Smoothie Cafe is at 1925 Gunbarrel Road.
The Tropical Smoothie Cafe has returned to 1925 Gunbarrel Road. This is the same location as previous, across the parking lot from Chili’s, but this time with new owners. Their smoothies were a favorite of mine and I was glad to see them reopen.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe has a menu called Splendid Smoothies, all made with Splenda, and under 200 calories, for $4.69. I did find that you could order any of their smoothies to be made with Splenda rather than sugar if you prefer. One that I recently purchased was the Orange Dream (oranges, Ghirardelli’s White Chocolate and non-fat yogurt). It reminded me of a creamcicle. Flavors of low-fat smoothies (only a few of the many, $4.29) are Island Fever (pineapples, peaches, bananas), Raspberry Rush (raspberries, banana, lime), and Blue Lagoon (blueberries, strawberries, banana).

In addition, among the six Power Smoothies ($4.89) are Fat Buster, Health Nut and Muscle Blaster. And don’t forget the six Dessert Smoothies ($4.69), which include Chocolate Chiller and Peanut Butter Cup – and more! TSC also has supplements such as Creatine, Multi-Vitamins and other additives you can request.

Smoothies are the mainstay here, but they have a nice selection of food items that are a bit different than a deli.

Wayne and I stopped by last weekend during a downpour to have an afternoon lunch. They weren’t packed, but there were quite a few customers. The menu consists of twelve Gourmet Wraps ($6.49), ten Gourmet Sandwiches ($6.79), and five salads ($5.99 to $6.99). You can also get a combo for $6.99, consisting of your choice of two from a cup of soup, half salad, half sandwich or 24-ounce smoothie.

I decided to go with the combo and ordered the Boar’s Head Soup of the Day, Turkey Rice, with a half Chicken Caesar Salad. Wayne ordered a Cheese BLT (Boar’s Head bacon, American cheese, Romaine lettuce, tomatoes and light mayonnaise). The sandwiches are served on Focaccia bread and served with a choice of chips or fruit.

My salad was fresh and crisp with plenty of grated Parmesan cheese and the chicken was tasty and moist. The soup was good, but I wouldn’t say it was as good as homemade. Wayne’s sandwich was a nice size with the bread being a bit larger than a standard piece of loaf bread, and it was filled with tasty ingredients.

Gourmet Wraps include Chicken Mango Habanero, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, and Veggie Veggie, while Gourmet Sandwiches include Chipotle Chicken, Tuscan Turkey and American Albacore Tuna. The sliced deli meats are Boar’s Head.

Tropical Smoothie also offers you a punch card. Make nine purchases (smoothie, salad, wrap or sandwich) and on the tenth visit, get any smoothie of your choice FREE! I have four more purchases . . . I would definitely go back to Tropical Smoothie for lunch.

If you want to stop by for breakfast, they offer several breakfast wraps (but you don’t have to hurry as breakfast is served all day) for $4.29.

Hours for Tropical Smoothie Cafe are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

They also cater. Check them out and let them know we are glad they are back!
