Karin L. Alcantara, M.D., and Cindy Tang Harris,both board-certified pediatricians with extensive experience, have joined the Galen Medical Group.
Dr. Alcantara received her medical degree from the University of Connecticut, and completed pediatric internship and residency at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans.
Before joining Galen, she practiced with the Children’s Doctors in Fort Oglethorpe. Dr. Alcantara is also currently certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and licensed to practice in Tennessee and Georgia.
Dr. Alcantara has two children, Konner, 15, and Emily, eight and resides in Ringgold.
Cindy Tang Harris, M.D., a board-certified pediatrician, has joined Galen Medical Group and is treating children at Galen HealthPark.
Dr. Harris received her medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, followed by an internship and residency at UT Memphis LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center.
Her research includes a study at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital focusing on polarity of expression and regulation of collagenase in endothelial cells. Before joining Galen, Dr. Harris practiced with the Children’s Doctors in Fort Oglethorpe.
She and her husband, John David Harris, Jr., M.D., reside in Ooltewah with their daughter, Ella, three.
