City Council Agenda For Tuesday Night

Here is the City Council agenda for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at City Hall:

V. Ordinances - Final Reading:

a) An ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 12024 entitled, "An ordinance appropriating, authorizing or allocating funds to the Capital Improvements Budget for the Fiscal Year 2007/2008," to provide for the appropriation from the Southside Parking Garage Fund for the renovation of the Southside Parking Garage.

b) An ordinance to amend Chattanooga City Code, Part II, to amend Sections 2-643 and 2-644 known as the Human Services Ordinance.

VII. Resolutions:

a) A resolution authorizing Todd McCain to use temporarily the right-of-way at Manchester Avenue and Glenn Road to install a back entrance at the property, as shown on the drawing attached hereto and made a part hereof by reference, subject to certain conditions. (Deferred from 7-8-08. Recommended for denial by Public Works.)

b) A resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to apply for and accept the COPS FY 2008 Technology Program (TECH) Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) in Washington, D.C., for a total amount not to exceed $631,328.00, for a three year period, with no local matching funds required. The City of Chattanooga would be able to obtain about 366 air cards and licenses to be used with the laptop computers to communicate field reports, etc. at a faster transmission rate while not disrupting 800 Megahertz radio contact. This program will be identified as the "Wireless Project".

c) A resolution authorizing the Chief of Police to apply for and accept the 2008 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant from the Bureau of Justice Administration in Washington, D.C., in an amount not to exceed $63,960.00, for a three year period, with no local matching funds required, with the City receiving $50,017.00 and Hamilton County, Tennessee receiving $13,943.00.

d) A resolution authorizing the Department of Neighborhood Services and Community Development to enter into a partnership with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) to apply for and accept a federal Housing and Urban Development grant in an amount up to $660,000.00 to eliminate lead hazards in selected homes occupied by low-to-moderate income residents, which grant requires no local matching funds.

e) A resolution authorizing the Department of Parks and Recreation to donate free carousel tickets to the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Bicentennial Library in support of its Summer Reading Program to be given to all young readers who complete their reading goals.

f) A resolution authorizing the Mayor to apply for and, if awarded, accept an Urban and Community Forestry Assistance Program Grant from the Tennessee Agricultural Enhancement Program through the Tennessee Division of Forestry in an amount up to and including $20,000.00.

g) A resolution authorizing the Chattanooga Downtown Redevelopment Corporation ("CDRC") to enter into a contract with TWH Architects for architectural services relating to repair of the Passage at a cost not to exceed the State Fee Schedule.
