Middle College High School Welcomes New Principal

Former Orchard Knob Middle School assistant principal, Angela Daniel has accepted the position of principal/coordinator of Middle College High School at Chattanooga State.

Established in 2001, Middle College High School provides a challenging and energizing learning environment for academically gifted students in a college environment. MCHS students attend classes taught by college faculty and they earn college credit.

Students have the opportunity to complete an associate degree while simultaneously completing coursework for their high school diploma. Qualified high school sophomores, juniors and seniors with an ACT score of 19 or better are eligible to apply.

Ms. Daniel brings a wealth of professional experience to her new position. Prior to her position at Orchard Knob Middle School, she was assistant principal at East Lake Academy and a curriculum specialist at Franklin Middle, Dalewood Middle, Chattanooga Middle, 21st Century and East Lake Academy.

In addition, she taught sixth grade social studies and language arts at Ooltewah Middle School. She began her career with the Hamilton County Department of Education at East Ridge High School as an exceptional education department assistant.

Ms. Daniel earned an associate of science degree from Chattanooga State in 1994.

She went on to earn her B.S. from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga graduating with an educational specialist degree in 1996. While at UTC, she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma National Educator Honor Society.

In 2000, she received a Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in curriculum K-12 from Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee where she received the Honors Medal.

Last year, Ms. Daniel received her certification as an educational specialist with an emphasis on Leadership and Administration from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tn.

Ms. Daniel is involved in numerous professional and community activities, which include professional memberships with the Hamilton County Education Association, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the Parent, Teacher and Student Association.

She engages in school affiliated charitable work and was nominated for Disney’s Teacher of the Year Award in 2002. Her church membership is with First Cumberland Presbyterian.
