So Glad I Didn’t Buy In East Ridge - And Response (1) posted July 18, 2008 I am proud to say I am a recent first time home buyer. I did not have a lofty budget, quite slimly moderate in fact. I searched this fair area for a fixer-upper, anywhere within 20 miles of downtown Chattanooga. This included Red Bank, East Ridge, and north Georgia. After all the recent hoopla, I am very thankful I did not fall prey to East Ridge. Although there were some very nice, no extremely tempting, homes to choose from. I think the odor of self importance would get to me. Any mayor who votes for a tax increase, at the same time assuring himself a tax break, (senior tax relief) reeks of something. And it isn't fish or Moccasin Bend either. I well understand I am one measly tiny sole; after all, I could not afford a mc-mansion. The city of East Ridge won’t miss me, nor I them. But I am positive I made the right choice for my first time home, by not buying in East Ridge. Rene Anne Wood Rene37419@comcast.net * * * I have been reading the unfortunate way the politicians in East Ridge have been treating the people there. I think it is also a very embarrassing thing for their city. What I don't understand is if the people in East Ridge are so upset, then why don't they just throw what has been referred to as "the Three Stooges out of office." I am sure that it would be no problem for them to get enough signatures on petitions to oust them. It is a shame that my family who live in East Ridge have to go through the humiliation of what the county commissioner/city manger/King and the Mayor who I understand through other articles I have opened his business in downtown Chattanooga. I tell you, if I was living in East Ridge, I would be the first one on the street with a recall ballot. A.E. Macmahan AEMACMAHAN@aol.com |
