KNOXVILLE -- The Tennessee Athletics Department released its 2010 football schedule Friday, highlighted by the first ever meeting with Pacific-10 Conference power Oregon in Neyland Stadium.

UT’s meeting against the Ducks begins a home-and-home series that concludes with a 2013 visit to Eugene. In addition, Tennessee’s 2010 contest with Oregon marks five straight years of Pac-10 opposition in the non-conference portion of the schedule (California 2006-07, UCLA 2008-09).

The Vols open the 2010 season with four straight home games, beginning Sept. 4 against an opponent to be determined. A game against Akron originally set to be the 2010 Tennessee opener has been moved to a later date. SECOND SURGERY A-OK FOR HOLBERT, BUT ‘08 RETURN RULED OUT
Tennessee senior fullback David Holbert underwent a second successful surgery Friday on his left knee, according to the early evening report from Vols head athletic trainer Jason McVeigh. Holbert injured the knee during a March 29 scrimmage at Neyland Stadium.

“This was the second and final surgery resulting from the injury sustained in spring practice,” McVeigh said. “David will miss the 2008 football season.”

Holbert missed the entire 2007 season after suffering a preseason injury to his right knee.

Drs. Greg Mathien and Russell Betcher of Knoxville Orthopedic Clinic performed the surgery at UT Medical Center.
