3 Charged After Man Stabbed To Death At Dodds Avenue House

Chattanooga Police homicide investigators have charged three men after a late-night stabbing ended the life of Joel-Lopez Escobar. The man charged with carrying out the murder is the brother of the victim.

On Friday night, Chattanooga Police responded to 807 Dodds Ave. on a report of a stabbing. Upon their arrival, they found the victim
lying in the driveway unresponsive. He had been stabbed in the stomach.

Police found another victim, Marvin-Lopez Velazquez, with stab wounds to his arm and forehead.

Edwin-Lopez Velazquez was found in another room with a laceration to his right arm.

Officers then found Josue-Lopez Escobar locked in a bedroom with no apparent injuries.

Joel-Lopez Escobar was pronounced dead at Erlanger Hospital.

According to witnesses, an argument broke out that turned deadly.

The investigation led homicide investigators to charge Josue-Lopez Escobar with criminal homicide,

Marvin-Lopez Velazquez and Edwin-Lopez Velazquez were charged with accessory after the fact.

Police initially said two had been stabbed and one suffered "blunt trauma" injuries at the house on Dodds Avenue in the 2:30 a.m. incident.

All the victims were transported to Erlanger for their injuries.

The third victim was treated and released.

Police said some of those at the scene of a party at the residence where the incident occurred were too drunk to talk to officers at first.

A number of beer bottles were found at the scene.
