Katharine Kolp Of Hendersonville Named Tennessee's Junior Miss by Wendy King posted July 19, 2008 Katharine Kolp of Hendersonville was named Tennessee's Junior Miss 2009 Saturday night at the Memorial Auditorium. The 6'2" senior at the Merrol Hyde Magnet School received $5,000 in scholarships in winning the state title and overall awards in talent, academics and fitness along with preliminary interview. Miss Kolp performed a lyrical dance to "The Walk" and is the choreographer for her school's dance team and also the captain of the volleyball squad. She will now represent the state in America's Junior Miss in Mobile. She was crowned by her predecessor Chandler Lawson. Cleveland's Lauren Ledford and Ooltewah's Michelle Brooks were the preliminary Self-Expression winners. Miss Brooks was named first runner-up and the winner of the contestant-voted Spirit of Junior Miss Award. The Ooltewah High School senior was a triple preliminary winner as she was also recognized in fitness and talent. Miss Ledford, a senior at Girls' Preparatory School, received a $500 scholarship as the overall Interview winner.
