ATLANTA -- This week may be the one that will determine the direction they take for the remainder of the season even if they are back on the road.

Some already believe that Atlanta sealed its fate this past weekend, when it dropped two of three games to last-place Washington.

As they enter this week's six-game road trip that will pit them against the Phillies and Marlins, the Braves are in fourth place. However, they are still only 6 1/2 games back in the National League East race.

Realistically, there are just nine games remaining before Braves general manager Frank Wren must decide whether they are going to be buyers or sellers on the trade market.

More specifically, Wren has just a little more than a week to determine whether or not to trade Mark Teixeira, who enhanced his statistics with his 20th career multihomer game in Sunday's 15-6 loss to the Nationals.

Although it's nearly August, Atlanta is still looking to complete its first winning road trip of the season.

Entering Sunday, the 15-32 record Atlanta had posted on the road stood as the third worst in the Majors, behind Colorado (14-36) and San Diego (14-31). But the Braves have won eight of their past 16 road games.

When Atlanta begins a three-game series against Florida at Dolphin Stadium on Monday night, it'll send Jorge Campillo to the mound to face Chris Volstad, who will be making his second career Major League start.

While that might initially seem like good news, his first career start came on July 11, when he limited the Dodgers to one run and five hits in 8 2/3 innings.

Aiding the Braves' cause this week will be the returns of right-handed reliever Rafael Soriano and shortstop Yunel Escobar, who are both expected to be available to play on Monday.
