The Chattanooga Downtown Partnership will continue the 2008 Nightfall Concert Series this Friday on the BlueCross Stage in Miller Plaza with bluegrass group, the Claire Lynch Band.

By any measure, the Clair Lynch Band is high on the bluegrass wold’s A-list, with musicians whose individual accolades are too numerous to quantify. Ms. Lynch’s music is seasoned with a down-home sensibility, and her voice is described by Dolly Parton as “one of the sweetest, purest and best lead voices in the music industry today.”

In addition to her two Grammy nominations, Ms. Lynch has had numerous single hits in the top of the Gavin Americana and Bluegrass Unlimited charts. In 1997, Claire Lynch was nominated as “Female Vocalist of the Year” by the International Bluegrass Music Association.

Since March, 2006, the Claire Lynch Band has been touring with a moving and impressive CD, "New Day,” and in October 2007, Rounder released a new CD titled "Crowd Favorites - A Claire Lynch Collection.”

Opening act, the Bluegrass Pharoahs will take the stage at 7 p.m., followed by the Claire Lynch Band at 8 p.m.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, this free concert series continues to bring an eclectic mix of rock, blues, jazz, reggae, zydeco, funk, bluegrass and folk music to downtown Chattanooga.

The 17-week series is held on the BlueCross Stage in Miller Plaza on Friday evenings from Memorial Day weekend through Sept. 26. Beer, wine, food and non-alcoholic drink concessions are available on site. No outside food or beverages are allowed.

Nightfall also holds great weekly giveaways provided by participating merchants of Buy it Downtown, downtown Chattanooga’s gift card. This week will feature 20 Free Family Coupons for ice cream and hot dogs from Clumpies Ice Cream Company.

Corporate sponsors for this year’s series are Fletcher Bright Company, Unitrin, Northwest Georgia Bank, Bud Light, Southern Honda Powersports, Food Lion, Comcast, Fox 61 and WUTC NPR Music 88.
