Jean Skeen, 84, of Chickamauga, died on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at her residence.
She was born in Texas to the late Charlie and Bessie Chambers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harvey Skeen.
Together, they served in churches in Texas, Mississippi, and South Carolina. As well as being a homemaker, she was a leader in several church ministries.
22 years ago she moved to the North Georgia area where she continued in her ministry. Mrs. Skeen was currently a member of Oakwood Baptist Church and the Promise Sunday School class.
Survivors include her children, Jim Skeen, Chickamauga, Judy King, Rossville, Jan (David) Baxley, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; brothers, Boen Chambers, Al., Dub Chambers, Ca., Don Chambers, Co.; sister, JoLene Loza, Tx.; ten grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the chapel with Rev. Terry Burns officiating. Graveside services and interment will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Walterboro, S.C.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Herndon Funeral Home, Walterboro, S.C.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
