Artists and entrepreneurs wanting to learn more about creating press releases, and writers interested in learning the basics of crafting a query letter are invited to a free workshop, sponsored by CreateHere, on Thursday, July 31 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Led by local writer/editor Janis Hashe, the program’s two-fold purpose is to assist those in creative fields who do their own publicity, and also to review essentials for freelance querying with writers and those who would like to be published writers.
The free workshop is sponsored by CreateHere, the nonprofit organization that also offers SpringBoard, a program designed to help artists and entrepreneurs formulate workable business plans.
Janis Hashe has been a working writer/editor for more than 20 years. Formerly on staff with Sunset magazine, as a freelance writer she has contributed to the Los Angeles Times, The Tennessean, Westways magazine, AmericanStyle magazine, Alabama Journey magazine, and many others. Locally, she has written for Chattanooga Parent, The Pulse and In The City. She was the co-founder of Betty PR, a Los Angeles boutique PR agency that specialized in publicity for the arts.
The workshop will be at CreateHere, 55 N. Main Street, Suite 105, on July 31, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and is free, but reservations are required.
