Knox-Tenn Rental & Sales Closes After 56 Years In Business
posted July 23, 2008

Knox-Tenn Rental & Sales Company has closed after 56 years in business in the same location in Chattanooga.

Jerry Clerk, manager, said the closing was due to the downturn in the economy.

Mr. Clark worked for 39 years at the store at 1218 E. 23rd St.

Knox-Tenn Rental & Sales is headquartered in Knoxville, where the first store was opened in 1932 by E.R. Cowan.

There are still two stores in Knoxville and one in Johnson City.

The firm rents equipment for construction and the home.

There will be an auction on Aug. 23 of remaining equipment at the store.
