Obama Is Getting Special Treatment - And Response (2) posted July 23, 2008 Looks like the mainstream media is falling all over themselves to throw flower petals in Obama's path while he is overseas. McCain is almost ignored. I guess some people still cannot see the bias in the media. If this situation were not so tragic, it would be comedic. I hope journalism students in this country can see the situation for what it is, and set loftier standards for reporting. Brian Foley * * * I have seen and read plenty about the shots McCain has been taking at Obama while he is overseas. I don't know what media you're referring to, but I've literally seen just as much about McCain criticizing Obama for his take on the war as I have about Obama going overseas. Switch to Fox News, I'm sure you'll see plenty about McCain on there. Tyler Fordice * * * I agree about Obama. Several instances this week and last week I saw Obama in taped interviews on multiple networks at the same time. To compare that to seeing McCain occasionally on Fox News is ludicrous. On CNN or the other major networks, I rarely see a substantive piece about McCain. Has no one else asked about the expense for the U.S. taxpayer of Obama's recent travels for he and his now notoriously bloated entourage? Good gosh, I know I am not the only one who has seen how Obama has been treated with kid gloves by the media. Even Hillary accurately made that assessment. What gets me is that anyone would actually vote for Obama. Sure, you may not like the way things are but is that any reason to vote for someone as completely unqualified as Obama? Please. Someone list for me Mr. Obama's applicable, pertinent experience. Experienced politician? No. Businessman? No. Diplomat? No. Law enforcement? No. Military? No (yet he speaks all about prudent military strategy.) Intelligence experience? No. Mayor? No. Governor? No. Significant Congressional voting record? No. Foreign affairs? No. Budgetary experience? No. Managerial experience? No. Proposed close to $1 trillion in increased foreign expenditures? Yes. Proposes increases in the capital gains tax? Yes. The list could go on and infinitum. The man was a part-time legislator in Illinois and is a junior senator in his first term. Yet, people are supporting the man based on little more than blind, unthinking party or race affiliation. I am not crazy about McCain, but his military experience and extensive political experience go a long way. Throw in the fact that he has often reached across the aisle on issues including such things as environmental concerns, and has been critical of President Bush on numerous issues and the choice for a person thinking logically, not emotionally, should be easy. Mr. Obama is an eloquent speaker, but eloquence should be far down the list of qualifications for a President. Those who vote Democrat or Republican because that is what they "are," instead of stripping off the labels and scrutinizing the candidates' credentials, are the biggest problem in American politics.
