The 20th Annual Northwest Georgia Bank Foundation Golf Benefit will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
For the fourth year, the fundraiser will be at The Champions Club at Hampton Creek off Snowhill Road in Ooltewah. Begun as the Northwest Georgia Bank Golf Benefit, the bank moved the event in 2004 to the Northwest Georgia Bank Foundation, the bank’s charitable arm.
During past events, thousands of golfers, volunteers and supporters have gathered for golf, fellowship and friendly competition, but the real winners have been a score of charities and community projects, officials said. Funds raised by the tournaments now top $760,000, with much of it serving as seed funding for several non-profits: Catoosa Citizens for Literacy, Communities in Schools of Catoosa County, Catoosa Foundation for Performing Arts, Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy.
Other recipients include Habitat for Humanity, Northwestern Technical College, Friends of the Park, Better Business Bureau, Lookout Mountain Conservancy and Junior Achievement of Chattanooga.
Tournament proceeds also helped build the Northwest Georgia Bank Amphitheatre. Last summer, the Foundation finished construction and opened the amphitheatre with three free days of community concerts.
