Lori Jenkins Named Country Inns Sales Director
posted July 23, 2008

Lori H. Jenkins has joined Country Inns and Suites By Carlson as director of sales for the hotel’s Chattanooga and Hixson properties, according to an announcement by Ruth Wilkerson, general manager of Chattanooga Country Inns & Suites.

“We are delighted to have a distinguished hotel industry professional in this key position,” Wilkerson said. “Lori has proven her exceptional abilities in a wide range of hotel functions, and we look forward to employing her energy, experience and creativity on behalf of the clients of Country Inn and Suites.”

Jenkins’ 15 years in the hotel industry includes serving as director of catering for The Chattanoogan Hotel and as catering and sales manager for the Sheraton Read House Hotel.

At the Chattanoogan she exceeded the 2005/2006 budget by 15%, achieving the highest catering revenue in the property’s history. During her tenure she supervised all activities related to a 21,000-square-foot conference center, implemented an off-property catering service for the hotel and created a New Year’s Eve gala for the property.

Jenkins’ employment at the Read House included serving as food and beverage director, restaurant manager and banquet manager. She managed a banquet service area of over 19,500 square feet, as well as a staff of more than 40 in the 240-room historic downtown property. She solicited, planned, organized and executed conventions, social and corporate events, and special events at the Read House. For the fourth quarter of 2004 she exceeded booking goals by over 75%.

Active in community affairs, Jenkins served as chair of the 2008 Heart of the City Celebration and as 2008 co-chair for Relay for Life in East Hamilton County. She is a member of the board of the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, president-elect of the Chamber’s Downtown Council and a former chair of the Chamber’s Ambassadors.

Jenkins is co-chair of the mentoring project for the Chattanooga Women’s Leadership Institute. She volunteers for Hospice of Chattanooga and the Partnership for Families, Children and Adults.

A Chattanooga native, Jenkins attended UTC. She is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Chattanooga and has completed Foundations of Leadership Training, Radisson Guest Satisfaction Training and Radisson Service Standards Training.
