Victim Says He Cannot ID 2 Shooters
posted July 24, 2008

An early morning shooting at 1718 Hardy St. left a Chattanooga man seriously injured.

Police received a call of a shooting at 1:52 a.m. and found the victim, Robert Douglas, suffering from gunshot wounds to the head and back.

According to police reports, Douglas said he was walking to his girlfriend’s house when two men with guns appeared and shot him. As he ran to the back of the residence, he was shot a second time.

Mr. Douglas said he was able to make it back to the front door, where he collapsed and was found by police. He said that he did not know who shot him, and police do not yet have a suspect description.

Residents in the area said two men were seen running in the area with guns. One reportedly had a gun and the other had an assault rifle. An SKS assault rifle was recovered near the scene.

Mr. Douglas was taken to Erlanger Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition.

The investigation is on-going.
