Police Say East Brainerd Shooting Was Drug Deal Gone Bad
posted July 24, 2008

A shooting that happened Wednesday at 7301 East Brainerd Road was apparently the result of a drug deal gone bad, police said.

Police responded to the Concord Apartments around 7:10 p.m., where victim, Eric Underwood was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the hand.

According to police reports, Underwood was confronted by an unknown individual about money owed for a drug deal. Underwood and the unknown suspect argued about the matter and a fight broke out. At some point, the suspect produced a gun and shot Underwood in the hand.

When police arrived, Underwood was not very cooperative with facts of the incident, police said.

Officers said evidence of drug activity was located near the scene, which linked back to the shooting.

A suspect description was not given. Police are still investigating the incident and charges are pending.

Underwood was taken to a hospital, where he was treated for his injury. His current condition is unknown.
