He was a native of Sand Mountain and had lived the past 40 years in Rossville. He had been employed with Chattanooga Boiler and Tank Co., was a contractor with Sears and Roebuck Company, and later became a self-employed security door and window designer and installer.
Bill was a simple man with a great mind for detail in all he did. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and will be remembered by his unique and detailed work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Louise O’Shields.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Lindel O’Shields; two children, Kym O’Shields and Eddie O’Shields, both of Rossville; two sisters, Barbara (Mike) Morgan of Bryant, Al., and Jo O’Shields of Ft. Payne, Al.; half brother, Buddy O’Shields of Trinity, N.C.; half sister, Nola Hilton, Trinity, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Jim Bennett officiating.
Interment will follow in the New Home Community Cemetery in Henegar, Al.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
