Pair Charged In String Of Convenience Store Robberies
posted July 25, 2008

Two arrests have been made in a string of convenience store robberies.

Chattanooga Police Property Crimes Investigators arrested Christie Chubb and Barth Williams following a robbery Friday morning at the Kangaroo Express at 4806 Highway 58.

Shortly after the robbery, Ms. Chubb was located at 4901 Bonny Oaks Dr. in a white Cadillac matching the description of the get-away vehicle used in the robbery.

Investigation into this morning’s incident and the previous robberies led to Barth Williams and other illegal items including a rifle, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

Both Chubb and Williams have been linked back to the robberies which occurred at several stores, officials said.

They were charged with four counts of aggravated robbery. Williams was also charged with aggravated assault for threatening a customer in the robbery at 2300 Jenkins Road.

Police learned that Ms. Chubb was a former employee of Kangaroo and was familiar with the practices of the company. She picked the target locations and Williams went in and committed the robberies, police said.
