Hammond Leader In Campaign Contributions With $120,675
Chip Baker Garners $20,220 In School Board Race

Political veteran Jim Hammond, the Republican nominee in the race to become Hamilton County sheriff, received six times as much in contributions as his Democratic opponent.

According to financial disclosure forms filed with the election office, Mr. Hammond received a total of $120,675 in contributions between March 28 and July 28.

Contributions to Democrat Greg Beck totaled $20,785, while Independent candidate Jim Winters reported $1,950 in contributions.

A second Independent candidate, Tim Akins, had not turned in his financial disclosure report by the end of the day Thursday, as required by election law.

In the race between Chip Baker and Dr. Joe Dumas for the District 2 school board seat, the incumbent – Baker – took in almost three times as much as his opponent in contributions.

Mr. Baker’s contributions totaled $20,220, compared to $6,909.84 for Dr. Dumas.

Totals reported in other races include:

District 4 school board – Gregg Juster, $3,555.86; Debra Matthews, $3,530.

District 7 school board – Michael Dzik, $13,204; Linda Mosley, $11,215 in contributions and a $10,000 loan from Ms. Mosley to her campaign.

In the race for sheriff, Mr. Hammond reported numerous $1,000 contributions.

His $1,000 donors included Betty Adams, Jeff Badgley, R.P. Barnes, James Berry, Oscar Brock, Carey Brown, Lee Buff, Dallas S. Bunton, Edward Cagle, Terri Cagle, Mark A. Caldwell, Louis Card Jr., Margaret Card, Joan Carter, Mike Carter, Harold Coker, Joseph Coker, Tommy Couch, H.B. Dalton, Jason P. Davis, Ken Defoor, Charles D. Ewton, Harry Fields III, John Fox, James A. Frost, Bruce B. Goodwin, Melinda Harbour, Janet Jobe, Joy Jolley, Kelly Jolley, Frank J. Kinser, Ben Landress, Robert G. McKamey, William G. Miller II, Dr. Thomas Miller, William G. Miller, Charlie Monroe, Dennis Munczenski, Randall W. Olson, Michael R. Orr, David Parker, Susan Pittman, Richard Pollard, Zan Querry, Frances Rogers, James Rogers, Steve Rogers, Emerson Russell, James Sattler, Lenita Sattler, V. Mr. Beck received a $1,500 donation from the IBEW Education Committee, and $1,000 contributions from Jon M. Kinsey, Pamela J. Ladd, Olan Mills II, Berke for State Senate Committee and the Tennessee AFL-CIO Labor Council.
