Second Missionary Baptist Church, 2305 E. Third St., celebrates the 142nd church anniversary and homecoming with guest minister and native son, the Rev. Christopher Jackson, PhD, staff pastor and minister of nurture at the Temple Church in Nashville, Tn. He is also president of the Nashville African American Healthy Marriage Initiative. The 11 a.m. Sunday service on August 10 highlights the theme, "142 Years of Prayerfully Trusting, Believing and Receiving through Christ," with a scripture reference from Matthew 21:22.
