Randy Baker, Will You Fight The Electric Hike?
posted August 6, 2008

I see today that our electric rates are about to go up for the third time this year in October. The early reports say it may be as much as 15%.

Randy, these three rate hikes are far more expensive to the regular people of Chattanooga than any increase in my water bill. I would have to think that your sponsors, the city of Chattanooga and the Chattanooga Manufacturer's Association will see a far greater financial impact on their business than what the water company is proposing.

I don't want the water company to raise rates either, but let's rally to fight the electric hike.

Three times in one year. I would think that in your role you would see that as far more important than the water rate increase.

On behalf of the citizens of Chattanooga, pleas expand your organization to begin fighting the increase in electric rates. That would really help all of us.
