Goodlet, John "Elvis" William

John “Elvis” William Goodlet, 61, died in Chattanooga on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008.

He was the son of the late James S. and Fana King Goodlet.

John was in the 1953 founding class of Orange Grove School. After graduation, he served for many years in a number of different community programs offered by this wonderful institution, only leaving in order to work with the brother at Park Place Restaurant.

John attended Ridgedale and subsequently South Seminole Baptist Church. He was an avid bowler and cherished with pride his many trophies.

For several years prior to his death, John lived under the supervision of Orange Grove's Supported Living program.

John Goodlet loved everyone, and he never met a stranger. He had many wonderful friends who were always very kind to him.

John is survived by his sister, Joan Goodlet Hamner; two brothers, James S. Goodlet Jr. and Jack Kermit Goodlet; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as some other very important loving and supportive family members.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, in the funeral home chapel with James Goodlet III officiating.

Burial will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, alongside his loving mother and dad; and uncle, Kermit King.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Jeff Goodlet, Randy Rogers, Stephen Rucker, James Goodlet III, West Breedlove, Doug Williams, and brothers, Jack Goodlet and Jim Goodlet. Honorary pallbearers will be Orange Grove staff and employees of Park Place Restaurant.

In lieu of flowers, family asks that donations be made to Orange Grove Center Supported Living Program, located at 615 Derby St., Chattanooga, Tn. 37404.

John's family will receive visitors from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory, Battlefield Parkway.
