Engineer With TVA Also Taught School

Clyde was born in 1947 and graduated from Hixson High School and Austin Peay University where he played football. He retired from TVA, was employed as a mechanical engineer with Bechtel Corporation and a former employee of Stone and Webster. Clyde previously taught school in Soddy-Daisy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Pendergrass, Sr. and sister, Mary Lou Hutton.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Barbara Ashley Pendergrass; mother, Edna Pendergrass; sister, Frances (James) Mullinax; nephews, Will Hutton, Tracy (Yoshiko) Mullinax; nieces, Rose Hutton, Sarah (David) Hill; children, Jason (Katie) Ashley, Angie (Greg) Barley and Christy Johnson; grandchildren, Chanler, Kennedy, Zack, Kadie, Dylan, Molly, Jesie, Annah, Kate, Troy and Dylan.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the North Chapel with Rev. Henry Groseclose officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Troy Downey, Dylan Farris, Jason Ashley, Greg Barley, David Hill and Steve Jackson serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
