A gunman opened fire in front of an East Brainerd ice cream shop early Thursday afternoon and one person was hit.
Chattanooga Police major crimes investigators are looking into the shooting that happened in front of the Baskin Robbins just after 1 p.m.
According to witnesses, five people were in a black SUV sitting in traffic in front of the ice cream parlor when a silver-colored Chevy pulled up.
A tall, thin black male stepped from the car and opened fire on the SUV, striking at least one victim in the back.
The 21-year-old male victim was taken to Erlanger Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The other four occupants of the SUV were unharmed.
Police are questioning the witnesses to determine who the suspect is in this incident.
It appears that several rounds struck the vehicle, but only one person was actually hit. The motive for this incident is not yet known. The investigation continues.
