Forgetting The Unforgivable posted August 8, 2008 Way to go, Chattanooga. You showed everyone watching that people really do forget the unforgivable when it comes to election time. By re-electing the same group of misfits that chose to force feed us a new contract for Jim Scales you have proven that politicians can get away with most anything and still remain in office. It is no surprise that Curtis Adams keeps being elected to the County Commission. At the end of the day it really is about "What have you done for me lately?". Chip Baker is recognized for being the main cog in the new segregated high school on Signal Mountain and he was re-elected. Debra Matthews is a cash cow for her district and is credited with the new school at Orchard Knob. Ms. Mosley is the rumored handpicked successor to Joe Conner, who was one of the ringleaders on the Scales scheme, writing the contract that you would think the attorney for the school board would have presented. This election cycle had it all. Race-baiting and other underhanded tactics in one district. Electronic mail mysteriously floating around Signal Mountain about Joe Dumas with a more than interesting list of recipients. John Bailes taking negative shots at Jim Hammond, then his party complaining about negative campaigning. In the end, it was politics as usual. I am sure by the time Boydston, another on the bus for Scale's contract renewal, comes up for re-election, it will be long forgotten that she ran out of room in her shopping cart and decided to carry $10 (according to her), sorry it was $30 of items around in her purse at Wal-Mart.
