Teens Aim To Raise $20,000 To Oppose Abortion Clinic posted August 8, 2008 The Chattanooga Chapter of Teens Against Abortion will be holding a donation car wash on Tuesday at Ramsey's Produce, 4118 North Access Rd., from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., to raise funds to keep a proposed abortion clinic out of Chattanooga. Jordon McAfee, 16, acting director for Teens Against Abortion, said, "We will be seeking to raise $20,000 in one day on this Tuesday. This money will let us do a mailing to every doctor and nurse within a 50-mile radius of Chattanooga. The letter will ask the doctors and nurses to direct girls who are having physical or emotional problems from an abortion to the AbortionProblems.net web site." "We are also planning to do several television and radio ad campaigns: 'Teens Appealing to Teens.' The ads will be written and produced entirely by teens, with local teenagers doing the speaking," said Rev. Toby Solberg, youth pastor at Hickory Valley Baptist Church. "During the carwash, teenagers will be going to the businesses in the area around the proposed site asking for donations to help us keep this abortion clinic out," said Seth Wysong. "We are working toward an annual budget of about $120,000. We want to be able to hire a full-time coordinator to direct all the activities to get this abortion clinic out of Chattanooga," Mr. Mcafee said. A businessman who heard about the car wash donated $1,000 to the cause. |
