Red Hot Poker Dots Play At Riverfront Nights Saturday
posted August 11, 2008

Riverfront Nights Summer Music Series will return to Ross's Landing on Saturday, at 7:30 p.m. with the Red Hot Poker Dots. They will be playing at the Fat Cat Ferry Stage with their "Swampy Tonk" sound, which is a combination of old school country, hillbilly, yodeling, rockabilly and country-rock reinvented into a new musical experience.

A diverse four piece band from Melbourne Australia, the Red Hot Poker Dots consist of Ray Dee Ator on guitar and vocals, Lil'O'Dette on double bass, vocals and yodeling, Billy-Bob Roobarb on mandolin, doboro and lead guitar, and Blind Dawg Walker playing the cowbell and percussion. Their repertoire consists of an innovative and refreshing style of country originals that they call 'Smokin Roots-a-Billy' tunes.

Opening for the Red Hot Poker Dots will be singer/songwriter Brandy Robinson. She creates a style all her own with poetic lyrics, funky guitar riffs, and hip-hop scats.

Concerts will be held every Saturday through Sept. 27, except for Saturday, Aug. 23, when Riverfront Nights will take a break for the Southern Brewer's Festival and Saturday, Aug. 30, for Swing Fest.

The concerts are family-friendly, free to the public and will include blues, funk, rock, country, Latin fusion and more. Riverfront Nights is presented by Friends of the Festival in partnership with the City of Chattanooga and the Fat Cat Ferry.

The Fat Cat Ferry will have boat transportation available to and from Coolidge Park, with entertainment available after the show. An all day pass is $6 for adults and $4 for kids.
