Boynton Lions Club Awards Winner Is Amy Sisson posted August 18, 2008
The winning ticket was drawn at the organization's monthly meeting on Aug. 12, and Amy Sisson of Atlanta, Ga. was the winner. Ms. Sisson received the telephone call a few minutes after the drawing and she said she was excited to hear the news. She chose the grill and the club provided her with a cashier's check for $500 so she might purchase the grill of her choice. Club president Jim Cosper said that the $1,019 raised will assist with many of the projects the Lions support. "We appreciate all those who came forward to help and make this effort a success," he said. "Since prizes were donated, all the funds raised will go towards the service projects we provide the community." The group helps organize eye screenings in cooperative efforts with Chattanooga Valley, Rossville and Chickamauga Lions Clubs. They also provide eyeglasses to needy candidates. The organization works on a statewide level with Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind and the Emory Child Care Center. Two other major community projects are the long-term care and maintenance of the Boynton and Dailey Hill cemeteries. The Boynton Lions Club meetings are the second Tuesday each month at 6:30 p.m. Members coordinate a covered dish supper. They are held at the Boynton United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Membership dues are $20 per quarter. |
