Wild Blue Yonder
East Tennessee's folk/Americana band Wild Blue Yonder will bring its unique brand of roots music to Charles & Myrtle's Coffeehouse on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Charles & Myrtle's is located at 105 McBrien Road. The intimate listening room is a smoke and alcohol-free venue that will also host Wild Blue Yonder Sunday morning at its Unity Church service at 11 a.m. There is a $10 suggested donation at the door.

Review for Wild Blue Yonder:
Wild Blue Yonder shows deliver a powerful punch with spicy twin fiddles, smoking' mandolin, groovy percussion and guitar, while their onstage humor lends a warm, folksy quality. The "almost all-girl" band serves up an acoustic blend of Americana music with alt country edges. Evocative original songs mix with old-time mountain tunes, high energy delivery and versatile instrumentation for a crowd-pleasing stage show.

Chattnooga is one of the few Tennessee stops on Wild Blue Yonder's summer tour, which has led them from Lexington, Ky. to numerous venues in North Carolina. The group is currently previewing music on a new CD of all original music due out next year. Their Charles & Myrtle's appearance will feature many songs from their highly acclaimed "Above & Beyond" release.

Wild Blue Yonder was born in 2001 as a "newgrass" band from the acoustic leanings of veteran East Tennessee bandleaders/songwriters Melissa Wade and Philip Coward. Since then they have produced two well-received indie CDs, scored a regional hit with a roadkill anthem, dropped the banjo, thrown in some congas and broken new ground in the Americana realm.
