White Oak Baptist Hosts Gospel Jubilee posted August 19, 2008 Southern Gospel Music is always a favorite in the Chattanooga area, and on Saturday, White Oak Baptist Church will host a "Southern Gospel Jubilee," starting at 6 p.m. at the church. The church is located at 310 Memorial Drive in Red Bank. Scheduled to appear are the 2X2 Quartet, the Southland Quartet, and Mallory "Little Angel" Ledford. The event is free, but a love offering will taken after the event. All are welcome to attend. No reservations are required; groups of 50 or more are asked to please call the church. Mallory Ledford has been singing since the age of two. Over the last several years, she has developed into a phenomenal instrument of God. She attributes her style and direction to Sandi Patty, Karen Peck Gooch, and Charlotte Church. At ten years old, she is now taking more and more appointments to sing at different venues to spread the Gospel in song. She currently has a recording with several songs that feature Mallory's dynamic vocal range, control, and confidence. At a level that is uncommon for people of her age, she continues to stun her audiences and appeal to crowds of all ages. The 2x2 Quartet was established in April, 2005. Every member of this group has been involved in gospel music for years. Jeff and Daniel were with a quartet out of Dalton, before going out on their own and starting the group 2x2. Jon was singing with his family and a quartet in California before he and his family relocated to Tennessee. Tenor Tyson started singing with his family and then traveled full-time for four years singing with groups such as Heirline, The Duvalls, and Greater Faith Quartet. The Southland Quartet has been a southern gospel favorite in the Chattanooga area for many year. They have appeared at churches, gospel singings and concerts and are always a favorite. White Oak Baptist was founded in 1932. White Oak Baptist is a family of faith and welcomes visitors to the church. Services at Sunday at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Wednesday prayer service is at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome and encouraged to come. White Oak Baptist is located just two blocks off of Dayton Blvd on Memorial Drive. For more information, please call the church at 423 877-8551. |
