Bob Peck, board member for Hutcheson Health Foundation and chairman of the 2008 Golf Classic presents Mr. Fant and Mr. Stewart with a check for $65,000 during an awards ceremony held during Hutcheson’s Golf Classic on August 5 at Windstone Golf Course.
Hutcheson Health Foundation officials announced a record-breaking year in amount of funds raised at its 19th Annual Golf Classic held at Windstone Golf Course in Ringgold on Aug. 5. More than 149 golfers representing 38 teams fought the heat to help bring in over $65,000 net proceeds, the largest amount raised in the event’s history.

Leonard Fant, chairman of the board for Hutcheson Health Foundation and CEO of Blood Assurance, deemed the event a huge success. “It’s our mission to raise funds and financially assist the hospital,” said Mr. Fant. “It was one of the hottest days of the year, and we still had a record-breaking turnout and fundraising effort. That’s a reason to celebrate.”

Bob Peck, board member for Hutcheson Health Foundation and chairman of the 2008 Golf Classic, presented Charles Stewart, president and CEO of Hutcheson Medical Center, and Mr. Fant with a check immediately following the tournament and announced winners and recognized sponsors.

Mr. Fant’s team: Jimmy Dean, Ken Bennett, Mark Ellis, and Mr. Fant, took home first place honors; Cerner Corporation: Greg Bluth, Shad Williams, Bill Craig, and Barney Morgan, came in second place and PPS Orthodotics and Prosthetics’ team: James Rogers, Karston Merrill, Scott Wallace, and Jordan Thomas, held on to claim third price in the first flight of this year’s event.

Top sponsors included Blood Assurance, Emergency Coverage Corporation of TeamHealth, Chattanooga Office Supply, Fuller Rehabilitation/ILA, Ricoh, Regions Bank, Siemens, and Weeks & Peters Insurance.

“We appreciate all of the support we received from our sponsors and the community,” said Mr. Peck. “The money raised will go a long way in providing resources for our community hospital. Hutcheson does a great job taking care of our families, and we want to make sure they have the funds they need to continue providing the best health care possible."

One of the accomplishments of the day included Barney Morgan shooting a two on the Par 5 ninth hole at Windstone. Barney is from Ooltewah.
